Three Years In! (the new house) Update!

Alright so we have been in our new house three years now!! This is the update from  the post 'Some Exciting News'  So if you have kept up over the last three years then you will understand where these things have lead! If not, visit  'The Chicken Project'  for our adventure with chickens and  '2021-2023 Updates'  that basically have lumped everything together since I took a little break from blogging! (Ill add the individual links as I get them published!) So, when we bought the house, there was a pool in the middle of the backyard with no real room around to enjoy unless it was only a few people. So we extended the concrete pretty quickly but now, we are working on redoing the remainder of the yard! Aside from the grass which is set to be fake grass hopefully soon! The chickens have gotten an extension for their coop too! As for the front yard, that changed real quick after we bought the house and we removed 2 of the 3 areas of rock and made it grass...

Reward Ideas for Kids

Image
So, Logan has had behavioral issues in school due to his ADHD. He is now over half way through First Grade. The school does a great job keeping us informed which we LOVE! But at home, after school is usually when his medicine wears off. So we have been trying to find ways to help keep him motivated to behave. I know this sounds weird but if you do not have a child with severe ADHD, it may not make sense to you. Logan bounces off the walls and could outrun the energizer bunny on steroids.  Back to what I was saying about rewards. I guess these ideas can be used for whatever you want. I know some of these we do use for chores and things too. (As always, I will link in videos as I can or things that we have used!) Sticker Charts: we have used these on and off, specifically these reward sticker journals , they come with many varying chores and tasks with quite a few blank to fill in yourself if needed. Then its listed out Mon-Sunday and 7 task columns. There is a goal and reward box. I...

Singer Woodcraft: The Beginning

Image
Alright we did it!!! After a lot of planning and talking and research, we decided to open up a woodcraft business! However, it has begun to incorporate some metal things but still! Majority is wooden home decor and personalised wooden decor.  I had let the husband buy a CNC machine from someone we had done business with in the past and that’s where it all started. He was talking about a CNC machine for YEARS and I kept saying too expensive. Well, an angel came to us and we got one for an AMAZING price. Then the creation and options we had were endless. Until I of course was like can we make this? And he said it can’t and that a laser would be able to. So after releasing our first few projects, a personalized monogram wall decor sign and pumpkin lanterns, we had enough to get me my laser!  The laser has given us so many more possibilities and they are endless! As we still get a handle on creating things, supply, and all that businessy stuff, we have learned ALOT!  We have ...

The 2021 - 2023 Updates

Image
Alright, so it’s been a while since I have posted anything. Yea I know I am bad at this haha. I guess this should be more of a 2021-2023 update. It was originally the 2022 update but I failed at that too. We will just touch the tip of the events and I might add a post in depth to some of them at some point. (I will link them if I do, don’t worry about clicking around to find specifics). More of a list than pictures for this one but a short interesting life update read.  Let’s begin with 2021 in mid summer.  Our dog London became very sick. We planned on her not making it due to her blood having to be diluted FOUR times to even get results to populate! They think she got into something that was poisonous and was putting her into severe liver failure. We did in home IV and forced food and water down her throat for the weekend. She ended up getting better slowly but, since it’s now 2023, she still has some lasting effects but she is happy and loved.  The husband turned...

Some Exciting News!

Image
Over the course of the last what like two years, we have been looking here and there at new homes. Mainly new builds. Figured that we could get a brand new house customized to exactly what we wanted and needed since after we had Rosella, the house we bought 7 years ago is seeming small. Well, Steven was never really on board with the whole "moving" thing.  FINALLY! He realized that we did in fact need a larger house and more backyard space. So December 2020 we called our realtor, who I might add we have been using and staying in contact with since we bought our first home in 2014. And we begun looking. We slowly got our house ready to go on the market since we were not listing it until we were under contract with a new house.  We really did not want to rush into any house we didnt love since we were basically looking for the house we will be in until the kids move out. So we began our search. Houses popped up and were under contract within a day or two. The market was moving ...

Garden Update: 2 Months In

Image
So we started the garden just about two months ago and so far it is going well! At this point, we have not really lost any plants themselves, just some seeding issues. We have also talked about expanding the garden a bit. More or less probably on the side oft he house when the summer is over and it begins to cool down a bit since summers here in AZ get so hot. But that is a plan for a few more months out! But none the less I am excited!! The watermelon seeds that we planted, did not sprout. I tried to germinate some more and get those to sprout but those also failed. So there went any hope to grow watermelon at this time. The kids were a bit sad as they love watermelons. The cayenne pepper seeds also did not sprout. But that was alright since we had a few other types of pepper plant already in the garden.  For the other two seed types, cantaloupe and pumpkin, they have sprouted and been transplanted! We did take one pumpkin casualty of the two I kept. I transplanted ...

A New Hobby: Gardening

Image
Alright, I live in the Phoenix metro area of Arizona, USA. In the summers it can get to about 125 degree F and winters can be a bit nippy. Today is 3-22-20. It was about 67 outside today and partly cloudy. This weeks forecast goes from 62 tomorrow all the way to 87 next Thursday. That gives you an idea of what our general weather is for now. With all this COVID-19 stuff going on, mix that with my kids loving watermelon and strawberries, I said why not grow some! I told my husband and he went to the hardware store and got supplies. Came back showed me an idea and begun to build it. He then decided he didn’t like that and tried a different approach. Since it was not really “building” anything, it was easy to swap and try different ideas. He bought these bricks that are like puzzle pieces where all sides go inward. Which meant, all he had to do was place the bricks apart from each other and stick a board into the slot. Very simple! So Steven went to Home Depot and bought the sup...
