Road Trip to The Grand Canyon

Ok so like this all happened in June 2021…. But I just got it done. Hahaha.

So I have been bothering Steven to go up north anywhere and go hiking or do something in general didn’t matter what just wanted to go up north. so Friday morning I sent Steven a hotel and said we can get the kids and go after work and a spend the weekend up there.

Steven ended up coming to me about 10 in the morning and saying this is your only offer. That offer was: leave after work pick up the kids drive up to Williams AZ. Spend the night get up early go fishing, go through Bearizona, then head to the Grand Canyon. After that head on back home.

So of course I said yes because I’ve been bugging him to do something. So I packed the bags on my lunch and got ready for our trip. It was a three hour drive to the hotel. Longggg three hours. The kids were not having it. We got to the hotel in Williams late that night, after the sun went down. The kids were restless.

Once we got checked in, we were hungry. We walked down to the market and grabbed some frozen dinners to heat in the microwave. Let’s just say, it was a long night. Kids were not wanting to go down or settle down.

So once we finally got some rest and we woke up the next morning, we got ready and headed out to Kaibab Lake for some fishing. So we got there with the hooks and the kids and Steven fished. Why all the kids only have a minimal attention span they were done pretty quick, but as we were rolling Logans fishing rod in the line was being pulled out by a fish and ended up coming all the way out of the fishing pole, and Steven grabbed it just as it started to get pulled into the water, so we pulled in the line and Logan cut his first fish!!!

Since we weren’t prepared to actually take a fish with us, we gave it to the fisherman next to us. After about an hour two hours, we headed over to Bearizona and drove through it! Once we finished driving, we got out. Did a little bit of the walking part of it and then we had it off to the Grand Canyon.

Let me say this was such a long day. When we finally got to the Grand Canyon visitor centre was closed because of Covid, so we walked to the Grand Canyon looked at it. The kids entertained for about five minutes and then we had it back to the truck. And then we just made a long long drive home, but overall it was a very fun trip and it was nice to be able to share those experiences as a family.
